Butcher Covers do not
follow the
general rule that a Beatles Mono album
on Capitol is more valuable
than its Stereo equivalent.
This is because the initial
750,000 run of this
album was
produced at a ratio of approximately 5:1 in favor of
Mono over Stereo.
In the summer of 1966,
Mono still dominated Stereo In the teen market.
Based upon
production figures,
a STEREO Second or Third State
Butcher
should be at least FIVE
times scarcer than a Mono Butcher.
For FIRST STATE BUTCHERS, the disparity
between
Stereo and Mono is much greater. Nearly all albums that
were used for promotional purposes were Mono.
Other surviving jackets originated from
Capitol employees who pulled Butcher Covers from
boxes either before or after shipment
back to the factories during the recall.
While it is not possible to determine exactly
how many STEREO FIRST STATE Butchers survived,
it is clear that they are significantly
RARER than the Mono version.
Fab 4 Collectibles is proud to have acquired
and offer this most fabulous
STEREO FIRST STATE Butcher Cover :

The Condition of the actual Butcher Slick is
a brilliant and sharp Near Mint or better,
with NO blemishes at all.
Absolutely flawless in every aspect.
The images just "pop" off the Slick with bold,
deep colors and rich, vibrant clarity.
this high resolution close-up scan of the Cover
truly depicts the beauty of its condition :

The REMAINING overall condition of the
Cover is a solid
VG++. Grading was dictated by THE
FOLLOWING wear points : ALL FOUR TIPS OF THE CORNERS
SHOW SLIGHT WEAR, THE MOST OF WHICH IS ON THE BOTTOM
RIGHT CORNER CAUSED BY A "CRINKLE" PUSH THERE.
that is the extent of major flaws to this cover.
NO splits, NO ringwear !!
the spine is solid, firm and all
legible.
THE SPINE'S PRINT APPEARS TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE
COVER RATHER THAN DIRECTLY ON THE SPINE. THIS WAS DUE
TO THE ASSEMBLAGE AT THE FACTORY AND THE MANNER
OF HOW THE BACK COVER SLICK WAS WRAPPED AND APPLIED :

the cover lays perfectly flat :

The back cover is superb and clean except
for some light and sporadic "mellowing age spots".
THESE DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE OVERALL CLEANLINESS AND
WHITE TONE OF THE BACKGROUND :

This FIRST STATE STEREO SCRANTON #2 COVER
is
accompanied by it's matching
EAST COAST Record, GRADED IN SPARKLING
Near Mint CONDITION,
along with
it's original Capitol '66 orange inner sleeve :
